On July 5, 2024, Progressive English School celebrated Vaikom Muhammad Basheer Commemoration Day under the Malayalam and Library Clubs to honor the life and literary contributions of one of Kerala's greatest writers, Vaikom Muhammad Basheer. The event aimed to reflect on his legacy and promote a deeper understanding of his works. which have left an indelible mark on Malayalam literature. A presentation highlighting Basheer's eminent works was conducted in the primary section. A quiz competition was also held for class V students, testing their knowledge of Basheer's works and contributions to literature. A "Paint a Story" competition was organized for classes VII and VIII. Various other programs were conducted for classes IV to VIII, and all the students actively participated in the event.
