Under the auspices of the Social Science Club, Progressive English School solemnly observed Hiroshima and Nagasaki Day on 9th August 2024. The event aimed to pay tribute to the victims of the atomic bombings and to raise awareness about the need for global peace and disarmament.
As part of this commemoration, students united to take an Anti-War Pledge, reinforcing the message of peace and the importance of a war-free world. A workshop was also organized where students crafted Sadako cranes, a symbol of hope and resilience, while the story of Sadako Sasaki was narrated, emphasizing her courage and optimism despite adversity.
The event concluded with the display of the completed cranes, serving as a reminder of the enduring impact of war. It was a moment of reflection, inspiring the students to advocate for peace and to honor the memory of those affected by the tragic events in Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
