Human Rights Day- Breaking the Silence- Standing against Human Rights Violation
On 12 December 2024, Progressive English School observed Human Rights Day to commemorate the adoption of the Unviversal Declaration of Human Rights by the United Nations in 1948. The event, conducted for grade VIII students, began with a welcome address by Ms. Beefathu, Section Head. Mr. Sabir V.K, Vice Principal, delivered the presidential address. The highlight of the day was a session by Mr. Mustafa Ibrahim, Secretary of WGI, who underscored the enduring relevance of human rights. He spoke about their role in promoting equality, justice, and dignity while addressing the ongoing struggles against violations. His thought-provoking talk encouraged students to become advocates for fairness and compassion in their communities.
Following the welcome address, Mr. Sabir V.K., the Vice Principal, delivered the presidential address, further stressing the relevance of human rights in ensuring equality and justice for all individuals, regardless of their background or circumstances. His speech reminded students that human rights are fundamental to the well-being and dignity of every person. He encouraged them to reflect on how they could contribute to the protection and promotion of these rights in their own lives.
