The inaugural ceremony of Salvation 2024-2025, a month-long program, was held on 4th January 2025 through a special assembly attended by students from classes VI to IX and XI. The event began with a heartfelt prayer led by Rinsha and her team.
The inauguration was graced by Mr. Sajith Kumar, Principal of WHSS, who spoke about the dangers of drug abuse and screen addiction. He highlighted how harmful chemicals in drugs negatively affect the body, targeting the brain and overall health. He also shed light on the ways these substances are circulated outside campuses to trap young individ-uals. Additionally, he discussed the risks of screen addiction, emphasizing the importance of limiting screen time and prioritizing real-world connections. He urged students to remain vigilant, lead a disciplined lifestyle, and actively combat these modern challenges.
Ms. Supriya Krishnan led the students in taking a pledge, symbolizing their commitment to staying away from drugs and excessive screen usage. This was followed by a speech by Riya Latheef, the Grade XI student coordinator for Sal-vation. She inspired her peers to take proactive steps toward avoiding drugs and screen addiction. Her speech high-lighted the importance of adopting healthy habits and staying focused on personal growth and well-being.
That day was observed as Red Ribbon Day on campus to raise awareness about the harmful effects of drugs and screen addiction. Students tied red ribbons on their hands as a symbol of their stand against these issues. Throughout the day, the ribbons served as a reminder to lead a disciplined and addiction-free life.
As part of the day's activities, Naadan Kalikal-traditional games-were introduced. The aim of incorporating these games was to help students rediscover the joy of such activities, emphasizing their physical and mental health benefits. These games also aimed to promote teamwork and encourage students to stay away from screen addiction by engaging in meaningful and active pastimes.
The ceremony concluded with Samarin, the Grade XI student coordinator for Health & Wealth, delivering the vote of thanks. He expressed gratitude to all who contributed to the success of the event. The inaugural ceremony left students motivated and ready to embark on this month-long journey of self-awareness, disciplined living, and cultural enrichment.
